Switch Room - Control Power Unit

The switch room Asia is a singular power unit to control all the necessary components in a project. These would include switchgears, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), independent lighting, power, heating, fire alarm and other necessary devices. All of these are fully tested before delivery to the consumer.  

For starters, the type-tested switchgears have to be compliant to all the relevant specifications. The flexibility of the system is a must to integrate the necessary components. As such, there is no need to interrupt the power supply during maintenance work.

Prefab room

The pre-fabricated room can be installed and commissioned in just hours upon arrival at the site. They can include the aesthetic designs that will blend into the existing buildings. The same goes for the skid solution in mounting switchgear, UPS, battery racks, and the other interconnecting cable and bulbar trunking.

Designers for pre-manufactured substations have to consider the many aspects of local and international standards. This would also include the site specific requirements and environmental conditions. The room will be designed after the establishment of the criteria for typical information.

Considerations

The manufacture shall have several considerations to follow. These include access for personnel (for normal and emergency situations).  The access for equipments would be for the installation, operation and maintenance.

There would be need to consider regulatory compliance and approvals. In the installation, the considerations would include cable containment, earthing and grounding, water sealing, air conditioning, lighting and small power. Fire detection, alarm and suppression shall also be dealt with.

Supplier

A supplier’s ability to manage a project shall also be a determining factor as an end-user when choosing a pre-manufactured substation (like a switch room). There will be several activities from a list of engineering disciplines which will coordinate the maker’s work.

(The suppliers that are able to offer the integration of all disciplines and manage the process are needed for the project.)

Components / station uses

The station must have its own high-powered air conditioners for climate control. The same goes for its container insulation as well as the emergency exit walls, the fire safety systems, floor and wall RHS framed penetrations and gland plates.

These electrical switch and control rooms are critical to a site’s infrastructure that houses everything. (Transformers / power distribution equipments / and communications hub). Meanwhile, they can be used as the main switchboard rooms, distribution equipment rooms, process control centers, data centers, battery rooms and climate controlled test areas.

Construction

Some companies have their prefabricated rooms for switching commissioned by consumers that range from regular projects to roof top data center installation and a roof top GRP enclosure. These usually require cyclone rating and contain complex switching systems, advanced climate controls and internal smoke alarms and fire suppression systems.

Depending on the project, the customer can choose to have them fitted out with standards they want that matches their projects.

A switch room Asia can be constructed on a concrete or galvanized steel base frame, and floored with concrete sheet flooring. Finally, they can be designed, manufactured and transported to the site as a complete unit.
